Lake Mead
Lake Mead is the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the United States. It is located on the Colorado River about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas and is formed by water impounded by the Hoover Dam. Lake Mead offers many types of recreation such as boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming, and relaxing in the sun.
Mount Charleston
Mount Charleston is the highest mountain of the Spring Mountains of southern Nevada, approximately 35 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Mount Charleston has nearly 200 camp sites and over 150 picnic areas, some of which are RV accessible.
Primm, Nevada
Primm is located 40 miles outside of Las Vegas, and edges the California-Nevada stateline. Take a ride on the Desperado roller coaster which is one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world or shop The Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas which contains more than 100 stores and restaurants. The outlet connects to the Primm Valley Resort, which is known for displaying the actual Ford car in which Bonnie and Clyde were killed.
Valley of Fire State park
Valley of Fire State Park is Nevada's oldest State Park and is located 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas at an elevation of between 2,000 and 2,600 feet. The rough floor and jagged walls of the park contain brilliant formations of eroded sandstone and sand dunes more than 150 million years old. These features often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is located just 10 miles northeast from the Las Vegas Strip. The Speedway is a 1,200 acre complex of four different tracks for automobile racing and is owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. The track is open two nights a week for locals to drag race and is used by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as their driver training facility.
Grand Canyon National Park
The Grand Canyon is located 280 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The Grand Canyon is one of the first national parks of the United States. Aside from casual sightseeing from the South Rim, other activities include: whitewater rafting, hiking, mule back tours, and camping. Tourists wishing for a more vertical perspective can board helicopters and small airplanes in Las Vegas and Phoenix for canyon flyovers.
Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is located about 15 miles west of Las Vegas, and easily seen from the Las Vegas Strip. The conservation area showcases a set of large red sandstone peaks which makes them a popular hiking and rock climbing destination.
Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas and is on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. Hoover Dam was designated a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders.
Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is a four mile section of Las Vegas Boulevard South. It is home to many of the largest hotel, casino and resort properties in the world.
Freemont Steet Experience
Fremont Street is the second most famous street after the Las Vegas Strip. Located in the heart of the downtown casino corridor, it is the address for many of the older famous casinos. The Freemont Experience consists of a nightly light show which has revitalized the face of downtown Las Vegas by also offering a compact entertainment area of bars and clubs.
